The spectacular National Park of Timanfaya with the "Montanas del Fuego", in english Fire Mountains, is one of the most important sites of the island. For six years, from 1730 to 1736, the mountains erupted repeatedly, leaving fertile and green land barren, dark and strangely moon-like.
