Whales and dolphins on Lanzarote

The Canary Isle of Lanzarote has been created by vulcanic activities and many of the caves and cliffs under water are an excellent habitat for dolphins and whales and many different plants and other animals.
The most frecuent species of whales and dolphins on the coast of Lanzarote are the long finned pilot whale, sei whale, common bottlenose dolphin and fin whales.
As the Canary Isles are situated at the limits between cold, moderate and warm water, the dolphins and whales find an adequate habitat ahead the coast. The size of the whales can reach a lenght between 2 and 30 m. This exceptional animals can dive until a depht of 100 m and resist more than 15 min without breathing under water.
