Everybody of us loves sun, fun and recreation. And we all love holidays of a very beautiful island. My last trip went to Lanzarote. It was my first time on a canary island. I have not missed Germany. It was a beautiful time of one of the biggest canary island. Beautiful weather, people and a beautyful enviroment.

Time, weather and tour
Also in November I had beautiful weather in comparison to Germany. On the first day I had done a sightseeing tour. I have seen the “Hacha Granade”. The mountain is about 560 meters high. But not only the culture is beautiful also the mentality. You can buy beautiful things.

The water
And the water is very blue and very warm. You can make a diving tour and it is very interessting if you see the coral and the rare fish where you only know from the aquarium. If you dive you forget the time very fast and you will be fascinated like me I think.

Hiking tour into the country
I also recommend a hiking tour into the mountains and the country. There you can learn a lot of the culture. Everybody can go there and will not back to home. I know you can’t imaging what I tell you but try it and you will not be disappointed.

Lanzarote is the fourth largest of the Canary Islands and is located in the north-east of Fuerteventura. The island has a dramatic landscape: no trees, no bushes, less water. What’s interesting about Lanzarote is its volcanic origin, its volcanic lakes and caves.

I’ seen a lot during the fourteen days and all the time I seemed to be on the moon and sometimes was surprised to see the ocean next to me. But nevertheless the meagre island has vegetation: Cactuses! Cactuses in all shapes you can imagine! Some of them were in full bloom!

Once I made a tour through the famous winegrowing area La Geria. There were deep semi-circular cones made of black volcanic ash with lush green grape-vines in it. I tasted the wine at the vineyard and it was really good, so I bought some bottles for my next relaxing evening in the hotel.

From the Timanfaya National Park, which is the mountainous area of the island, I drove straight up to the north to see the “Mirador del Rio”. In the hotel they told me, that this is a must, a highlight, I should see it. And they were right! The immensity of the Atlantic Ocean is impressive, I could also see the island La Graciosa in the distance.

Back to the south I visited “La Cueva de los Verdes” near the volcano Monte de la Corona. The area has created a spectacular system of underground grotto. Its volcanic gallery is the longest in the world, about 6 km long!

A must is also the “Jardin de Cactus”, a cactus garden which shelters about 10,000 types of cactus.

If you are looking for a vacation you will never forget: Lanzarote is the perfect place. In the summer you get temperatures up to 35 °C/95°F if it is that warm you can relax at one of the amazing beaches.

One of them and probably the most popular is César Manrique.
The artist and architect was born on April 24th, 1919 in Arrecife, wich is a small town in east of Lanzarote. He grew up in San Ginés lagoon and attended to University of La Laguna. In 1945 he changed and went to a Art School in Madrid.

When he died on 25th September of 1992, an area of great architecture and art died with him. But his brilliant Masterpieces will last for the posterity.

The southern part of the island is a real paradise for those who seek a possibility to spend the most of the day in nude. Golden sand bays of Papagayo Peninsula with its four beautiful beaches are easy to reach by car.

If you look for extraordinary surroundings, the black sands beach of Janubio will be just perfect for you. It is one of the favorable beaches of naturists for its unique setting.

Lanzarote is the only place on the Canary Islands with naturist resort. There are five hotels which offer naturist facilities with a private sun bathing area. It is a wonderful option for those, who plan only partly naturist holiday.

Lanzarote is just an excellent destination for naturists seeking for picturesque surroundings and wonderful experiences for all year round.

This island of Lanzarote forms part of the group of the Canary Islands, which are all seven situated in the Atlantic Ocean. It is said more exactly 140 kilometres western of the coast of Morocco and 1000 kilometres remotely from the Spanish mainland.

You can reach the island if you embark the ferry “El Graciosero” which departs from Orzola.

Nevertheless it is loved and recommended by all who have ever tried. You should take a whole day to enjoy the beauty of nature on La Graciosa, an island where time seems to stand still and where all your worries will be forgotten.

One finds two mountain ranges, on which you can have an impressing view on a cruise. On an island stop during the cruise you have the possibility to explore a little.

Lava-Landscape of the fire-mountains of Lanzarote

Most of the charming landscape on Lanzarote has been conserved because the builidings do never count a lot of storeys. An interesting contrast to the black lava-rocks are the white houses and the palms and cactuses.

Lanzarote is situated only 130 kilometers from the coast of Africa and 1.000 kilometers from the Spanish mainland. , and it is the one of the Canary islands group most located on the north-east in the Atlantic Ocean.

Lanzarote also offers a golf course for visitors and locals, it is situated at the Costa Teguise in the south. Tennis courts form part of most of the big hotel complexes, however, courts and courses for all holiday-makers are also available in holiday centres.

Who would like to discover the island by walking, can join guided groups or take his own initiative. In any case adequate shoes and sufficient water reserves should be part of the basic equipment. On a guided walk in the national park of Timanfaya one learns about the history of origins of the island and the volcanic activities.

Night life in Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise is very eventful and you can find quite a lot of bars, pubs and restaurants in which you can let die away the day.

Holiday-makers have the choice between charming little restaurants at the port promenade and numerous discos and bars in Puerto del Carmen in the south of the capital Arrecife. The shopping centre Atlanticò is particularly popular for teenagers.

In Arrecife starts evey evening a hustle and bustle round the pubs and little bars in the streets around the lagoon Charco de of San Ginés. Not before midnight anyone goes for the first discotheques, before everybody gets in mood at the Playa del Reducto.

The ironman competition on Lanzarote is a very well known triathlon event in a beautiful volcanic island vegetation.

With 180 km of biking, 3.8 km of swimming and 42.2 km of running it is one of the world´s hardest triathlon competitions. The winners (totally 60 qualifiying slots) will automatically qualify for the most famous ironman competition in Kona, Hawaii.

Its similar conditions (Lanzarote island is often called “the Hawaii of Europe”) make it an ideal competition experience on each professional´s way to the World´s number one event in the States.

Also, Lanzarote government and sports associations made it one of the best organized triathlon competitions of the world – especially for the athletes and the members of the race headquarters they created a base with state-of-the-art sports and accomodation facilities. These facilities are located in the club “La Santa”, which is one of the leading sports and leisure complex areas on our planet.

Every year 1,200 participants are taking part in this big event which is also live-covered by many TV- and radio-broadcasters throughout the world.

For example in Arrieta, El Golfo or Orzola good fish restaurants can be found, as well as in the old downtown of Puerto del Carmen in Playa Blanca.

Staying power is one of the characteristics of Lanzarote. Than in the 18th century, the Timanfaya volcano spewed ash and lava for six years and a third of the fertile ground was buried under, which along the time formed the nowadays so bizarre landscape of the island.

Instead of pausing in despair, the indigenous people got creative and invented the dry cultivation of the fields, what has given a new face to the winegrowing area La Geria.

Another important celebration on the Canary Islands is the carnival, which is celebrated for weeks with salsa music and effortful outfits.

In honor of the patron saints, church parades and traditional celebrations are held, which end with lively get-together, music and good meal .

The architect and artist César Manrique which left pieces of evidence of his work everywhere like the residential building which houses the Fundaciòn César Manrique today was extremely formative for the island and its conception. Another masterpiece by the artist is the unusual volcano restaurant El Diabolo.

For most Germans the isle is part of the attainable aim to escape from the cold, grey winter.

In only four hours of flight from the center of Europe you can reach the islands of the never-ending spring – the Canary Islands.
